Reports to: Vitalize 360 Coach / Fitness Manager

Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) 

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Lifeguard is responsible for all aspects of pool area-from opening & closing, making sure testing chemicals, monitoring swimmers and those on deck and handling emergency situations, they work as part of, and alongside the Fitness Center team.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Test chemicals and record on record sheet provided throughout shift.
  • Ensure pool area is clean, safe, neat, organized, and inviting.
  • Actively monitors residents and guest, including small children on deck.
  • Create and maintain atmosphere of warmth, calmness, and positivity.
  • Ensure resident care needs are met by providing effective communication to the team.
  • Complete written or electronic documentation in a timely manner: text, call to fitness manager with concerns on weekend or otherwise. 
  • May participate in residents’ programs (volleyball, water walking) as assigned by Fitness Manager. 
  • Maintain professional competence to ensure high quality programming.
  • Assist to administrative requirements during down time.
  • Perform opening & closing procedures for the pool area; monitor participants using these areas.
  • Attend meeting as assigned by Fitness Manager.
  • Comply with all computer policies/systems, user protocols; uses MS Office, Outlook for all scheduling, stores Fox Hill documents on network drives.
  • Adhere to all safety policies including reporting all incidents immediately to your supervisor or Human Resources.

  • Must possess and maintain current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team.  
  • Able to work flexible schedule to effectively perform the essential functions of the job and meet deadlines, resident’s needs.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required (unless currently a High School attendee). 

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear stand; walk and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
